
The Committee in our HeadsWhy are we so hard on ourselves?
Many artists on dA (myself included) seem to have a Committee in our heads, which meets regularly and often to discuss in stern and critical tones the flaws in our work, our personalities, our lives. In addition to the regular meetings, individual committee members seem to be on duty 24/7/365 to make ad hoc nasty and undermining comments, just in case we get above ourselves.
Everyone's committee is unique, but there seem to be some fairly common standing members - teachers; professors; parents; siblings who have done so much more with their lives than you have; ex- and current boss
